The Map of Policy-Relevant Economics is an interactive map of what the policy institutions’ economists write, what that literature is built on, and what engages with it: OpenAlex records from 1945 onwards, of which a core were written by someone at one of 47 institutions — the IMF, the World Bank, the Federal Reserve system, the major central banks, the multilateral development banks, the OECD and the UN economic bodies.

The Map of Geoeconomics Research is an interactive map of the academic literature on geoeconomics: 28,279 papers published between 1945 and 2026, of which 13,222 are economics. The papers are OpenAlex records, collected from the field’s vocabulary, its canonical works and the bibliographies of its survey articles, then grown two hops along citations. Each paper’s position comes from SPECTER text embeddings reduced with UMAP; clusters are found with HDBSCAN and reviewed individually.

Emacs is certainly a strange piece of software. It was created in the 1970s and is still in active development until this day, preserving weird concepts like “buffers” and “frame” and “fontification” in its documentation. It calls the button Ctrl on modern keyboards as C and the Alt button as M (Meta). In default settings, you copy text by pressing M-w , “kill” (in modern language: cut) by C-w, and paste by C-y. In order to customize Emacs, you need to use a dedicated programming language called Emacs Lisp.
